    Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia located on the south-western part of the Malacca Peninsula with the population 1.8 million people. The city is built in various architectural styles. The Independence Square houses Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Theatre and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, with National Textiles Museum and Jamek Masjid close to it. To the south of the Square the Old Railway Station faces Malay Railways Headquarters KTM Berhad. All these buildings were constructed in the end of 19 — beginning of 20 centuries. Victorian-style architecture features former palace Carcosa Seri Negara, National History Museum and Kuala Lumpur Library, surrounded by Neo-Moorish buildings. Holy Rosary Church and St John’s Cathedral belong to neo-gothic style. The city also features five spacious parks with the largest and most popular “The Lake Gardens” — the place where orchids grow, and live various butterflies and birds. Kuala Lumpur has National Mosque, Islamic Arts Museum, and lots of sports grounds, kids’ zones and public gardens. The distinguished sight of the city is 450-meter Petronas Twin Towers resembling an eight-point Islamic star in section, with chamfered angles.
