Guangzhou is a large city located on the southern coast of China with the population of 14 million people. The city was founded more than 2000 years ago, during the reign of the Han dynasty. According to the legend long time ago five immortals came riding five rams. The rams held sheaves of rice in their mouths for the citizens never to starve. Indeed, the standard of living here is much higher than in other Chinese cities. Guangzhou has subtropical climate: not too stifling summer and mild winter. The city and its suburbs are full of various sights: from the Lotus Mountain, which got its name due to the shape of a lotus, to Yuexiu Park with its beautiful lakes, conservatories, pavilions, tea houses and the Five Ram Statue which has become the emblem of the city. In an hour drive there is the “Windows of the World” — a miniature sculpture park which gathered all world places of interest. Due to its fine location in the delta of Pearl River flowing into the South China Sea, Guangzhou has an easy access to Hong Kong and Macau.
