Cusco is an ancient town on the south of Peru located 3000 meters above the sea level, in the Urubamba Valley of the Andes Mountain Range. Its population is about 320 thousand people. According to the Indian legend, the founder of the town was the first Inca, Manco Capac. He left the Lake Titicaca with his family searching for the place where his golden staff could “sink into the earth”. The place he found was the settlement of the tribe Zavasera Panaca. After destroying it nothing prevented him from creating the capital of the Inca Empire — the Kingdom of Cusco. A huge empire grew on the place of the ancient settlement turning it into the town of palaces and temples. Nowadays Cusco is popular with its history counting more than 3000 years, as well as its architectural monuments preserved after destructive earthquake in 1950.
