La Mamounia

Marrakech, Morocco

11°C 00:17:06

Reminiscent of a faraway time and place, the Hotel evokes a modern day fairytale. Such a heaven is often sought after but rarely found. Combining the best modern world has to offer with traditional values, the Hotel provides the experience so unique; it becomes an integral part of the myths that defines it. The traditional rooms are decorated with warm tones, creating a comfortable ambiance and have a pleasant view over the city and the internal garden. Jacques Garcia is an inveterate antiques-hunter since his childhood with an outstanding creativity and a passion for objects d’art. He has renovated this legendary palace with pleasure and talent, blending the Arabo-Andalusian style with modern technologies. Morrocan crafts owe much of their prestige to Berber art and Arab-Andalusian tradition and are in debt to their illustrious ancestors for their expertise today.

Location

Situated between the city center and the old medina, the Hotel is ideally located at the heart of the 12th century city ramparts. Key historical sites are all close to the hotel. Marrakech-Menara Airport is located at 6 km from the city.

Recreation

Spa at La Mamounia is a place where all the best beauty professionals and all the best treatments came together in one single space. The hotel, by working with a number of partners, has created a totally unique spa with 2500 sqm devoted to all beauty needs, featuring two traditional hammams, nine multiple treatment rooms, hairdressing salon, relaxation room, six outdoor massage cabins, Jacuzzi, indoor ozone-heated pool, fitness room equipped by LifeFitness, and a boutique. A tribute to the magnificent Menara basin, the outdoor ozone-heated pool witnesses the importance of water — a source of tranquility — throughout the hotel. Tucked away in its legendary gardens, the fitness pavilion is equipped with a superb fitness center overlooking the park, along with private rooms where guests can enjoy yoga, aerobics and Pilates sessions. The Majorelle blue walls and the tataoui ceilings provide the perfect setting to achieve absolute harmony of body and mind. A ping pong table and a bowling field are also available to guests.

The two clay tennis courts, set in lush green surroundings, are available for use by guests throughout the year. The hotel is home to former French champion Henri Leconte, who hosts annual exhibition matches with both Moroccan and international champions.

Dining

Le Marocain is tucked away in the heart of the gardens, and its three floors include a magnificent terrace on the ground floor and a bar and tea room on the top floor. In stunningly opulent surroundings, guests can sample its Moroccan cuisine, an intelligent blend of traditions and modernity, created by inspired Chef Rachid Agouray.

Le Francais by Jean-Pierre Vigato, with its light-colored marble epitomizing the simplicity and purity so dear to the Hotel, is a heaven of sophistication and elegance. Its harmonious decor embellished with touches of warm colors is a perfect reflection of the fine, delicate cuisine interpreted by a Chef of international renown.

L’Italien by Don Alfonso offers contemporary Italian cuisine, prepared from seasonal products frequently grown in the organic vegetable garden of the Hotel. Its Baroque decor with hues of plum and its charmingly-lit terrace give the restaurant a private, intimate feel.

Le Pavillion de la Piscine is a magical spot exuding charm and grace offering magnificent breakfast and Mediterranean buffet lunch.

With its orange and saffron gold velvet armchairs, Le Bar Italien evokes the colors of the South and with them the sun and warmth. It is located off the Galerie Majorelle and boasts a delightful terrace, the perfect place to sit back and relax.

With its leather and fine wood paneling, the Bar Churchill, named after its most famous guest, is located of the Galerie Mamounia. It remains faithful to its original decor and is the perfect place for an aperitif or digestive in its juzzy 1930-s atmosphere.

At the end of the pathway lined with olive trees and rose bushes stand the elegant Menzeh Pavilion where guests can partake of ice cream, delicate French pastries and delicious mint tea — a symbol of Moroccan lifestyle. A selection of board games is available on site.
