Ingeniously set amongst boulders and age-old Tamboti trees, the private game lodge issituated inthe middle ofMadikwe, giving visitors ahuge game drive advantage over other lodges situated onthe borders ofthe reserve and offers visitors the most amazing South African safari adventure. Madikwe Game Reserve is home not only to the Big Five of Africa (Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard), but also to a wealth of over 66 mammal species, including the rare African Wild Dog, as well as Cheetah, Eland, Kudu, Giraffe and a range of more than 300 resident and migratory species of birds.

Accommodating up to 24 guests in vast, well-spaced and utterly private glass-fronted suites scattered across the hillside, camouflaged by tamboti-beamed thatch roofs. Wooden walkways lit by hurricane lamps criss-cross the grounds and connect the secluded suites to the central open-plan lounge, bar, wine cellar, library and dining area up the slope, where cooling fans make slow rotations and the giant twisted trunks of leadwood trees hold up the vaulted ceiling.

Location

Set within 75 000 hectares of safari park, Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is situated on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa.

Recreation

Madikwe Hills is built upon a rocky outcrop with sweeping views over miles of open plains. The lodge was discreetly designed to blend almost imperceptibly into the surroundings — huge granite boulders are a major feature of the property, all of which were left completely undisturbed, even if it meant having to build around them, as was the case in the double-height bar and some of the bathrooms.

Our beautifully furnished luxurious suites are extremely spacious (±150m²), each with their own lounge, bedroom, change room and bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. The glass-fronted suites open out to a large private deck with plunge pool offering the most exquisite views.

Not only do we create unique dining experiences such as private dinners on your deck, boma dinners with live entertainment to meals out in the bush, but we also cater for dietary requirements and allergies. No reason for you not to have tasty, mouth watering meals just because of allergies! From lactose to glucose intolerance to vegetarian... we do it all.

Your evening meals, unless it is a private dinner, will be enjoyed with the other guests from your game drive and will be hosted by your ranger It is always fun to meet other guests, where you can reminisce on the days events and share stories of different countries and cultures around the dinner table.
